Darwin wedding celebrant

About Me

Hi! I’m Tom and I’m here to help you create the wedding ceremony of your dreams. I am a storyteller, a jack of all trades, a beach baby and a musician. I became a celebrant because some lifelong friends wanted me to do the honours, and I am absolutely hooked! Can I please marry you?

I come from a religious background and got married quite young. The marriage ended and I left my religion, it was a tough experience but I emerged from the other side more appreciative of the power of ceremonies. I became a celebrant out of a deep conviction that our lives are better the more attention we pay to each moment. We’re not getting a single one back. Through ceremony we take time out of  ‘the ordinary’ to reflect and to make commitments about the way we intend to live. We mark milestones in the lives of ourselves and others, and we say, symbolically, “what has happened here is important, and we will bear witness to it.”

When it comes time for the big day, I know it’s not about me. I won’t shy away from the fact that moments like these don’t come around every day. Look around you. See all those faces. See that face. See them. Take a big breath and realise they see you too.

That’s what it’s all about.

I’m a newly arrived resident of Darwin, originally from Melbourne and having spent seven years on the Victorian Surf Coast.

I’m a serial entrepreneur: I helped start a social enterprise bike shop and started my own commercial mushroom farm, and I am convinced that anything, be it the big things like marriage; parenting; or the loss of a loved one, or the little things like running a business; going for a swim; or moving house, all benefit from an approach that values life as a journey of expansion and self-discovery. Ceremonies support us in that intention.

Explore my website, I hope you’ll find plenty of content to give you a sense of who I am and how I work. I’m always happy to have a chat even if you’re still deciding on a celebrant, and if you like the way we work together then let’s make it happen!
